Avoiding self-polarisation

Polarisation involves you falling for:

  • Confirmation Bias (it’s what you want to believe)
  • Groupthink (well if others do, it must be right)
  • Bad Tribe (you cosy up to those who make you feel safe right now – even if they are potentially dangerous to you and others)
  • Self-identity protection (unable to take criticism objectively)
  • Escalating Commitment (in for a penny…).(with acknowledgement to Erich Buhler and others).Where do you see this in others? Yourself?
